Varallisuuspolku is a private, free web service that the accessibility requirements of the Finnish Act on the Provision of Digital Services do not bind. This statement has nevertheless been drawn up voluntarily, because financial planning should be within as many people's reach as possible. The aim is WCAG 2.1 AA level in the core functions. The service hasn't been audited externally — the statement is based on self-assessment. Updated 14 July 2026.
What works
| Keyboard use | All form fields, toggles and buttons are keyboard-operable, and focus is clearly visible. Shortcuts: F opens the drawing board, Esc closes, Ctrl+Z undoes. |
| Alternative to dragging | Every change you can make by dragging on the chart can also be made with form fields: the basics, event ages and amounts (the On the timeline list) and the retirement settings. |
| Alternative to the chart | The annual table (below the chart) presents the same information as a year-by-year text table and exports it as CSV. Key results are also shown as text cards above the chart. |
| Screen reader | Charts have text equivalents (ARIA), changes are announced in an aria-live region and modals have proper roles. As a whole, though, drag-based planning is smoothest through the form fields and the annual table. |
| Reduced motion | The operating system's reduce motion setting (prefers-reduced-motion) removes animations and smooth scrolling. |
| No time limits | The service has no time limits, no auto-dismissing notifications and no flashing content. Your plan is saved automatically. |
| Scaling | The page works with browser zoom and on mobile devices. The fullest experience is on a large screen. |
Known shortcomings
| Dragging the chart | Grabbing and dragging the curve isn't possible with the keyboard alone. The same result can be achieved with the form fields, but direct curve editing relies on a pointing device. |
| Dense information | The chart's tooltips and the drawing board's meters are visually dense; with a screen reader the same information is available from the annual table and the result cards, but not at the same granularity. |
| Contrast | The dark theme's faintest helper texts don't reach AA contrast everywhere. They are fixed as the spots are identified. |
